Nationally-known kaleidoscope makers Steve and Peggy Kittelson of Clermont, IA will offer a 3-hour kaleidoscope making workshop beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 29.  The workshop will be held at Cave Hollow West Winery in the Mark Twain Cave Complex, Highway 79 South.  Participants will come away from the class with a completed kaleidoscope and deeper knowledge of the principles and techniques used to create kaleidoscopes.

The cost for the workshop is $150.00, which includes all materials.  Participants may wish to bring additional small charms or small pieces of colored glass to use in the cells.  Two people may attend as a pair and make one scope for one cost.  The workshop is limited to 8 participants. Minimum age is 12 years old.  No experience necessary. Registration for the workshop can be made by contacting the Hannibal Arts Council at 573-221-6545.

This event coincides with the opening of 'Kaleidoscope!' at the Hannibal Arts Council, which will exhibit over 30 handcrafted kaleidoscopes, showcased alongside kaleidoscope-patterned quilts created by area quilters.  'Kaleidoscope!' is sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council, Mark Twain Cave and The Hickory Stick.

The public is invited to attend the exhibit opening reception of 'Kaleidoscope!' from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St.
