One of the Quincy Mall’s anchor stores is closing its doors this spring.

Officials with J.C. Penney’s announced Wednesday morning that the Quincy store will close April 4th.

Neither local nor corporate officials would give a specific reason for the closing of the Quincy store.

The closing will affect about 50 employees.

A Penney’s store in West Burlington, Iowa will also close in April. Stores in Hannibal and Macomb will remain open.

J.C. Penney’s originally opened in Quincy at 6th and Maine. The store moved to the Quincy Mall when it opened in 1982.
