Wyatt Earp’s Cemetery and His First Wife’s Lonely Missouri Grave
If you're interested in wild west history and Wyatt Earp specifically, you no doubt know about Dodge City, Kansas and Tombstone, Arizona. But, you should also know about where his history led him which includes his grave and that of his first wife who was laid to rest in a small Missouri cemetery.
Before he gained fame in the American West, Wyatt Earp's early life included time in Missouri where he married Urilla Sutherland Earp in January of 1870, but tragically died on October 10 of that same year. It's believed that her tragic death and that of their son was what drove Wyatt westward in grief.

Wyatt Earp's grave and that of his wife Josephine are better known and frequently visited in the Hills of Eternity Memorial Park in California.
With a name like mine (and a relation to the real John Henry "Doc" Holliday albeit a distant one, you'd be right to guess that I've done a lot of research into Wyatt Earp's life, but many don't follow his adventures all the way until his death. While his time in Tombstone is legend, his eventual travels into California are interesting, too, and that includes his final resting place.
