I Asked AI for Missouri's Best Restaurant

Artificial intelligence is fast becoming a part of all of our daily lives. I decided to allow it to help me find Missouri's best restaurant. The robot chose 3 places that I've never heard of.

There are many popular chat bots these days. ChatGPT is one of the more prominent but many of the major ones will cost you. I found a robot who will answer your questions for free at AI Chatting. Just for the heck of it, I asked the AI bot what Missouri's best restaurant is and it gave me an unexpected answer that included some variety and off-the-beaten path places.

The choices the AI bot made for Missouri restaurants is interesting. The Rieger in Kansas City specializes in food grown locally in the KC area. Open Table says they "focus on locally sourced, farm fresh seasonal ingredients. Chef and Owner Howard Hanna's French and Italian inspired cuisine strikes a perfect balance between bold sophistication and rustic sensibility".

Olive and Oak in St. Louis seems to have a similar approach. Their official website says they "source the best ingredients, locally whenever possible. In the kitchen, we use solid, old school cooking techniques".

Same story for Vicia in St. Louis. See if this blurb from their local site sounds familiar? "Seasonal, locally inspired, vegetable forward cuisine told through a creative and ever changing 3 course Farmers Feast experience."

Forgive me for being paranoid, but it makes me wonder if the AI bot was programmed to favor restaurants that buy their food sources locally over others? I'm not complaining. As a matter of fact, I think that's great to point people to places that fix food local farmers grow. The issue is whether AI will be fair in its recommendations or will we end up with robots that have "sponsored" recommendations? I'm just thinking out loud.

Like it or not, AI is the future of online interaction. Even the restaurants that you get recommended will likely have some sort of AI involvement. Welcome to the future.
