Looking Back at Aerosmith’s Final St. Louis Performance in 2009
Now that Aerosmith has officially retired from touring, we can look back and remember what ended up being their final concert ever that happened in St. Louis, Missouri in late Spring of 2009.
It was a stormy night on June 10, 2009 when Aerosmith was getting ready to hit the stage at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri. As I recall, the show was delayed by the weather that night, but Steven Tyler and company did manage to perform a complete concert starting with a roaring version of "Monkey on my Back".
I've been able to find someone who created a playlist of Aerosmith's show that night. Their last song that night was an encore of "Train Kept a Rollin".
Aerosmith never did make it back to perform in St. Louis before Steven Tyler's voice troubles caused the band to retire from touring. St. Louis was one of the planned stops on the 2024 Peace Out farewell tour, but that was one of the dates that was canceled when Steven realized he could not go on. The night of June 10, 2009 was another one of those events where everyone in the crowd was witnessing something special for the final time, but didn't realize it. While Joe Perry has not ruled out a one-off final performance from Aerosmith before they're completely done, it's almost a certainty that we'll never see the band on a full tour ever again and that includes St. Louis.
