A northeastern Illinois woman has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of her sister.

Carpentersville police say 53-year-old Sandra Baumgartner was charged Wednesday with three counts of first-degree murder. Her sister, 57-year-old Sharon Baumgartner, died Monday.

Police say neighbors reported hearing a disturbance Monday night at the elder sister's apartment. The two lived in separate apartments in the same building.

Officers say they found Sharon Baumgartner bleeding heavily, and she later died.

Police found her sister in a wooded area nearby after searching for several hours. They didn't disclose a possible motive in the stabbing.

Baumgartner faces 20 to 60 years in prison if convicted. Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.

She was found not guilty by reason of insanity of a murder in Tennessee in 2002.
