Highway 106 Bridge at Florence, IL Closed Until Further Notice

The bridge that carries Highway 106 across the Illinois River in eastern Pike County is closed.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page Thursday morning that a barge had struck the bridge at Florence, and that the bridge was closed until further notice.

Anyone who usually uses the 90-year-old lift-span bridge will need to detour onto Interstate 72 and cross the Illinois River at Valley City.
