The Highland Cougars win for only the second time this season Friday night, spoiling Senior Night in Monroe City with a 20-10 win.

After the Panthers took the opening kickoff and were unable to move the ball, they punted to Highland. On the Cougars' first offensive play, Derick Smith took the ball 80 yards for a touchdown. Highland scored twice in the second quarter, on a 14 yard run by Chris Sparks and a 27 yard run by Smith. Monroe City mounted a comeback in the second quarter, scoring on a 3 yard run by Blake Grive and a 25 yard field goal for Kyle Fulton.

That would be the extent of the scoring for the night. Monroe City falls to 1-7 on the season, while Highland stands at 2-6. Highland returns home to face Louisiana next Friday, while Monroe City closes the regular season at Palmyra.
