Health Officials Warn Missourians to be Careful in the Heat

Hot, humid weather has settled over Missouri, and health officials are urging residents to be extra careful in the heat.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory on Monday. Forecasters are calling for highs over much of the state well into the 90s for most of this week, along with very high humidity.

The St. Louis Department of Health is encouraging residents to stay in cool environments when possible and limit or stop outdoor activity until the heat breaks. People are asked to stay hydrated, and check on elderly, chronically ill and homebound relatives, neighbors and friends.

Children and pets should not be left alone in cars, even for a very short time. Pets kept outside should have access to fresh water and shade.
