The Hannibal Police Department is looking to expand its use of social media as a crime fighting tool.

In a press release, HPD announces they plan to expand its use of Facebook to include photos and videos of suspects or persons of interest involved in criminal acts.

There is already a Hannibal Police Department page on Facebook to disseminate information to the public. And, officers regularly search social media as part of routine criminal investigation.

HPD hopes that by posting photos and videos, the public will be able to identify persons of interest when officers can’t.
