A two-story brick home at 308 North 6th Street in Hannibal sustains major damage after fire breaks out Wednesday around 4 pm.
Hannibal Assistant Fire Chief Clinton Conrad says 12 firefighters initially responded to the scene. Crews arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the front of the home. One resident was home at the time and escaped with minor injuries. Another 10 firefighters were called in to battle the blaze. No firefighters were injured.

Conrad says although houses were in close proximity on both sides, the damage to those houses was believed to be minor.

As of 8 p.m. Wednesday, the cause was undetermined. The State Fire Marshall and an HFD Fire Investigator were on scene conducting an investigation.
Hannibal Police, Marion Co. Ambulance, Missouri Highway Patrol, and the Hannibal Board of Public Works assisted at scene.
