A haven for Hannibal history buffs is closing.

Ken and Lisa Marks announced this week the closing of the Hannibal History Museum at 200 North Main.

The Marks’ cite a lack of the necessary funding to keep the building open.
Exhibit items that had been on loan to the museum will be returned to their owners. Gifts and donations to the museum will be stored.

The Hannibal History Museum Foundation will continue to operate as a historical society.

Plans are for the Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tours and the Big River Steampunk Festival, both operated through the auspices of the museum, will continue in 2020.
