The city of Hannibal has submitted an Emergency Declaration to the Missouri  Emergency Management Agency and Governor Mike Parson.

Mayor James Hark declared a Level Two Emergency for Flood Response Sunday afternoon.

A level two emergency is defined as an occurrence that required a major response and the significant commitment of resources from several governmental agencies, but still will be within the capabilities of local resources to control.

The Mississippi crested at Hannibal at 25.81 Sunday afternoon and is expected to stay above 23 feet for the next week.

Along with the declaration, Mayor Hark also emphasizes that the city’s flood wall is performing as it was designed to do and businesses are open as usual.
