Hannibal City Manager Jeff LaGarce spoke to reporters after Tuesday night’s council meeting, regarding the redesign of a portion of the Main Street sidewalk project. LaGarce says the changes should satisfy the objections of some business owners on the west side of the street.

But the redesign does add to the projects’ costs. The City Council approved spending up to $35,000 in architect fees,  but the amount of added construction costs is not yet known. However, LaGarce says some of the added expense will be offset by the simpler design.
