Hannibal City Council members hear first reading of an ordinance regarding sealant replacement on the runway at Hannibal Regional Airport.
Federal funding will cover 90% of the cost. The airport recently received approval from the FAA for larger planes to use the facility. Hannibal has also applied for a grant for runway expansion. Word on that grant is expected in February.

Railroad quiet zones were also a subject of discussion. Three council members voted against a proposal to spend $7,500 on an engineering study. Councilman Mike Dobson brought the proposal before the council. He says safety would not be sacrificed. Channeling devices to make it impossible to drive around crossing gates are one requirement.
