(HANNIBAL)—A second and final reading of the Hannibal Smoke Free Act is on tonight’s Hannibal City Council meeting. If approved the ordinance goes into effect on July 1st. Also scheduled for a second and final reading is an ordinance creating the position of police cadets in the Hannibal Police Department.  Police Chief Lyndell Davis is asking for a change in an existing but unutilized ordinance to allow hiring of potential police candidates between the age of 21 and 36 years old who have passed the current testing requirements to be a police officer but who have not yet obtained a Missouri Peace Officer license.

Council members are also expected to set a public hearing on the fiscal year 2012-13 budget for May 22nd.
