Two local high school football teams are heading to the Missouri State Quarterfinals after  wins at the district level on Friday.

The Hannibal Pirates hosted Jeff City Helias at Porter Stadium in Class 4 District play.  The Pirates put together three big plays to knock off Jeff City 21 to 14.  Trevor Watson, Lawson Rickey, and Shamar Griffith scored TD's for the Pirates.  Hannibal travels to Kearney next Saturday, after Kearney defeated Platte County 58 to 41.

In Class 1 action, the Mark Twain Tigers hosted the Monroe City Panthers. Both teams were even at the half, each scoring a touchdown. The final was Monroe City 28, Mark Twain 12.  Logan Minter and Zacharee Osborn each scored TD's for Monroe City.  Monroe City broke the game open in the 4th Quarter with a couple of 5-yard runs by Cole Pennewell.  Terry Monroe carried two to the house for the Mark Twain Tigers in the losing effort.

Monroe City will host Marceline next Saturday in the quarterfinals.  Marceline defeated Westran on Friday by a score of 28 to 15.
