(Kahoka, MO)—Illegal immigration and small business concerns were discussed by 6th District U.S. Congressman Sam Graves in meetings with constituents in Kahoka and Memphis Friday.

Graves says his Secure America with Verification and Enforcement, or SAVE Act, would add 5,000 Border Patrol Agents, improve barriers and fencing at the southern U.S. border, increase Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and expedite deportation of illegal aliens.  It also strengthens E-Verify, the system used to verify workers have legal status.

Co-sponsors of the Bill include Representative Vicky Hartzler of Missouri. The Bill now heads to the House Homeland Security Committee.

Over 11 million illegal immigrants are estimated to be in the U.S., however some sources report the figure could be as high as 20 million.

Graves, Chairman of the House Small Business Committee, also heard concerns of  business owners regarding the negative effect of excessive government regulations.
