The Quincy Salvation Army’s Kroc Center is closed until further notice as the result of a fire in the center Friday morning.

Quincy firefighters were called to the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center about 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Fire officials found that a fire had broken out in the pump room near the swimming pool area.

By the time firefighters arrived, the center’s sprinkler system had put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was believed to be chemical in nature.

No one was hurt. Center employees evacuated patrons as a precaution when the alarm sounded.

Damage is believed to be minimal.
