A three-week investigation results in the arrest of four men in connection with a home invasion and robbery in a Pike County, Illinois home.

Sheriff Paul Petty reports the incident happened at 3:30 a.m. on March 20 at a rural Milton residence. The victim reported he was sleeping when two masked men forced their way into the home, leaving the victim beaten and tied up.

The two left with a small safe.

Last Thursday, two search warrants were executed, one in Cottage Hills, Illinois, the other in Pittsfield.

As a result, 19-year-old Troy Chappell of Cottage Hills, along with a juvenile, and 26-year-old Gregory Fentress and 21-year-old Cody Tipton, both of New Salem, were taken into custody.

Chappell was charged with home invasion. Chappell and the juvenile were both charged with residential burglary, criminal damage to property, theft and aggravated battery.

Frentes and Tipton were both charged with theft over $500.

Pike County State’s Attorney Zach Boren is expected to file additional charges against the four Tuesday morning.
