A total of only five people died on Missouri’s highways and waterways during the just concluded Fourth of July reporting period.

The Missouri State Highway and Water Patrol reports that there were three traffic fatalities and two drownings reported statewide from 6 p.m. Tuesday until midnight Wednesday.

None of the deaths reported happened in northeast Missouri.

Two of the traffic deaths took place in the Kansas City area, with one reported in southeast Missouri.

The drownings happened in southeast Missouri and at the Lake of the Ozarks.
