An electrical problem is blamed for a Monday afternoon house fire in New London.

Firefighters were called to the residence on Highway A around 4:30 p.m. New London Fire Chief James Quick says the house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

Two other fire departments were called for mutual aid. Owners of the home were out of town. Four pets died in the fire.
