Drug Bust in Scott County Illinois

Authorities seize 6 pounds of cannabis, cash, and a Hummer after a traffic stop along I-72 in Scott County.

In a press release issued today, authorities report an Illinois State Trooper stopped an SUV for a traffic violation on the night of December 23 on I-72 at milepost 48.

The officer detected the odor of cannabis in the vehicle and observed indicators of criminal activity. The investigation led to the arrest of 56 year-old Michael P Skirvin of Candler, North Carolina. Authorities seized 6 pounds of cannabis, $15,855 cash, and a 2007 Hummer, pending forfeiture. Skirvin was charged with Cannabis Trafficking more than 5,000 grams and possession of more than 5000 grams of cannabis.

Illinois State Police were assisted by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and the West Central Illinois Task Force.
