September 27, Huckleberry Park in Hannibal will participate in the  Ace Race, a disc golf tournament in which participants only score on "aces," the disc golf term for a hole-in-one.

The Ace Race is becoming a marquee event in the sport, according to a release from Hannibal Parks and Recreation, "In 2013, the Ace Race was the largest disc golf event in the history of the sport with 19,818 players participating in 397 locations."

While aces are the only way for a player to score, the distance between tee-off locations and baskets on each hole will be shortened for the two-round tournament. Don Crane, Hannibal’s disc golf course manager, said the tournament will feature disc golfers from around the Tri-State area. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Players who are interested in participating must be registered no later than September 12. The cost is $25, and players may register at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office at City Hall, 320 Broadway; or at the Huckleberry Ramp Park office.

Discraft sponsors the Ace Race, and provides new prototype discs to be used in the tournament. Each player also gets a packet of items from Discraft, such as a cap, towel and stickers.
