Sunny and 25 – Perfect Day For Ice Bowl Disc Golf
The forecast for this Saturday calls for sunny skies and a high of 25.
Perfect weather for a disc golf tournament.
No, really.
The 16th annual Ice Bowl disc golf tournament returns to the Don Crane Disc Golf Course in Huckleberry Park in Hannibal Saturday, February 12.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. Tee off is at 10. It costs $10 to play.
Actually, this weekend will be a comparatively beautiful day for the Ice Bowl.
If you'll remember, there have been years where everything wintry that could possibly fall out of the ski had come, making the course a winter wonderland in the worst possible sense of the word.
In our previous visits with Mary Lynne Richards at Hannibal Parks and Rec, we've talked about the year where everything was snowy and icy and slick the day of the Ice Bowl and she considered calling off the tournament.
But, before she could make the call, the hard-core Iowa disc golfing contingent called Mary Lynne saying don't you dare call off the tournament, 'cause we're on our way.
The Ice Bowl is a fundraiser for the Buddy Pack Program, which provides free food each week for more than 400 kids in the Hannibal Public and Parochial Schools.
It's not just a good time for a good cause. It's having fun and freezing your backside off for a good cause.
Did I mention Iowa disc golfers are nuts.
