Ever see a badger or a weasel in northeast Missouri? If you do see one of these… or see other rare animals… the Missouri Department of Conservation would like to know. Chris Cox is with the Missouri Department of Conservation. He asks that you contact them if you see and have evidence of badgers, weasels or spotted skunks in the area. Cox says those animals are all native to the area although spotted skunks are more common in southwest Missouri. Cox says they are trying to get a count on these rare animals.

Most of these animals are nocturnal. Cox says a deer hunter captured video of a badger walking under his stand. A badger carcass was found in northeast Missouri about four years ago. Check your trail cams. Contact the Missouri Department of Conservation if you have helpful pictures or video.
