Couple Leaves $25 million to St. Louis Children’s Hospitals
Howard and Dorothea Hebebrand never had children of their own, but the gift they left behind will help countless kids.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation and Shriners Hospital for Children-St. Louis are working out final details of a $25 million gift from the couple's estate. The portion going to St. Louis Children's is the largest bequest in its 130-year history.
The Hebebrands ran a machine shop in St. Louis for many years — a friend says they invested wisely. Howard Hebebrand died in 1997 of pancreatic cancer at age 83. Dorothea was 97 when she died last year.
