On Wednesday, officers with the Quincy Police Department assisted the Chicago Police Department by arresting a man wanted on First Degree Murder charges in Cook County. Police located and arrested Carl Morris at 8th and R.J. Peters.

Morris is accused of killing a teenager more than six years ago, according to Chicago Police. A 17-year-old was fatally shot following an argument on the street on May 23, 2007. The Chicago Police Department tells KHMO that Morris was not identified as a suspect, initially. Police credit the persistence of detectives working the case, and the cooperation of members of the community in identifying Morris as a suspect. A warrant was issued earlier this year and Morris was arrested in Quincy.

Morris has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder.
