A Hannibal man charged with murder and assault in Marion County and assaulting an officer in Monroe County was in court Monday.

As a result of the hearing, Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd granted a defense motion that Timothy Brokes, Jr. should undergo a mental evaluation before standing trial.

Shepherd also ruled that details of a recorded conversation between Brokes and his previous attorney would be redacted from the court files on the case.

Brokes is accused of killing Brittany Gauch and wounding her husband, Aaron in Marion County and with wounding Monroe City Police Officer Travis Pugh last January.

Brokes’ next court date is December 19, at which time the possibility of a change of venue in the case will be discussed.
