A request by the Hannibal Board of Public Works for a temporary restraining order to delay a change in water treatment practices is denied.

Judge Rachel Bringer Sheperd denied the request citing state law and saying the matter is not yet ripe for judicial intervention.

BPW sought the restraining order to delay removal of chloramines from the treatment process.

Hannibal voters in April approved a measure requiring use of chloramines to be discontinued but the Board of Public Works says there are several conflicts in the process.
