Northwestern ends bowl drought...Cowboys romp in Dallas

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - The Granddaddy of postseason games gets under way later today in Pasadena, where 11-2 Stanford goes against 8-5 Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. Stanford is trying to cap its Pac-12 championship season with its first victory in the Rose Bowl since 1972.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Behind huge interceptions early and late, No. 21 Northwestern beat Mississippi State 34-20 in the Gator Bowl and snap college football's longest postseason losing streak. The 10-3 Wildcats won their first bowl game since the 1949 Rose Bowl.

DALLAS (AP) - Clint Chelf threw three of Oklahoma State's five touchdown passes and the Cowboys shook off a disappointing Big 12 finish by dominating Purdue 58-14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. It was the biggest bowl win for Oklahoma State since coach Mike Gundy was the Cowboys' quarterback in a 62-14 rout of Wyoming in the 1988 Holiday Bowl.
