Blessing Hospital is preparing for potential Coronavirus cases.
Hospital officials ask that those with mild to moderate flu like symptoms self quarantine at home and call their healthcare provider to determine the next step in their care. A Flu Like Illness Screening Center is established at 2808 Chestnut. That facility will open Monday, March 16. Hours will be 8 a-m until 8 p-m weekdays and 8 a-m until 5 p-m on weekends. That facility is for those who have no primary care provider or are unable to reach their provider.

Hospital officials ask that those with mild to moderate symptoms including potential COVID-19 not come to the Blessing Hospital Emergency Center unless they are experiencing a life threatening illness or injury.

Blessing Health Systems Convenient Care Clinics at the Quincy Hy Vee stores will temporarily close as of 5 p-m Sunday.

Visitor restrictions are also in place.

Visitors will be restricted to the following five types:
• The significant other of a woman in labor.
• The parent or guardian of a minor who is a patient.
• A support person for a patient with a diagnosed cognitive disorder, such as dementia.
• A support person for a patient undergoing surgery on the day of the procedure.
• A support person for a patient receiving end of life care

The hospital will evaluate requests for visitors for other types of patients on a case-by-case basis, with the decision based on safety of patients, employees and the public. To make a request to visit a patient not included in the five approved categories call the Blessing Hospital Hotline at 217-277-3504 to discuss your need to visit a hospitalized patient.
