The Hannibal Bicentennial Committee is inviting Hannibal citizens to be a part of history.

In observance of Hannibal’s 200th birthday, the Parks and Recreation Department is coordinating the creation of a new time capsule, which will be opened in the year 2069.

Residents are being asked to contribute typed or handwritten letters to themselves, the residents of Hannibal or to a loved one.

Local companies, churches, teams and clubs are welcomed to contribute photos with rosters or lists of their employees or members.

The deadline to submit items to the time capsule is 5 p.m. Friday, October 18th, with the capsule to be closed in a ceremony October 26th.
