This is the kind of adrenaline rush you don't want to experience. There are reports that many in Missouri were shocked to check their bank account balance early Wednesday morning only to find their checking and savings accounts had a zero balance. I think I know what was going on.

I saw miscellaneous comments on social media today that alerted me to the fact that something in Missouri was seriously wrong. The good news (well, not that really "good" news) is that the problem was not restricted to Missouri. If you checked your bank account online today and were immediately alarmed, this is likely what was happening.

International Business Times is reporting that Bank of America had a zero balance glitch today that affected thousands if not more. NBC Los Angeles said the problem occurred nationwide.

The website Down Detector shows the massive outage began late Wednesday morning and is largely resolved, but still not completely over. At its peak around lunch, there were more than 20,000 reporting problems. As of this writing (Wednesday, October 2 - 7:20pm), there are still around 2,000 that apparently still have issues.

The key is try not to panic and contact your local Bank of America if you find you have experienced (or are still experiencing) the zero balance glitch. Hopefully this gets completely resolved soon as no one needs this kind of drama in their life in this crazy year.
