Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois selects the southern route for its 345,000 volt Mark Twain transmission line.

After a series of public hearings on two proposed routes for an electric transmission line between Palmyra and Kirksville, Ameren picks the 100 mile route that runs through Marion, Lewis, Knox and Adair counties.

Ameren officials say the route will be submitted to the Missouri Public Service Commission for review and landowners affected by the line will be notified by letter.

Construction is set to begin in 2016, with the line expected to be in service in 2018.
