Adams County led the way in deer harvest during the first weekend of Illinois’ firearm deer season.

On the opening weekend November 18th through the 20th, hunters bagged 1,642 deer in Adams County, 80 more than a year ago.

Other leading counties in deer harvest were Randolph County with 1,582 and Jackson County with 1,562.

Pike County was fourth with 1,346, followed closely by Fulton County with 1,344.

Statewide, hunters bagged a total of 54,452 deer last weekend, down from 57,870 in 2015.

Firearm deer season concludes December 1st through the 4th.
