Three Deaths on Missouri Waterways This Weekend
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports three people are dead after separate accidents on Missouri waterways. One of those fatalities occurred in Northeast Missouri.
A 35-year-old Springfield, Illinois man drowned Friday afternoon. Authorities say 35-year-old Nathan Hoffman drowned after falling off the back of a boat tied up at the Lick Creek Arm of Mark Twain Lake. The cause of the fall is under investigation. An autopsy is planned.
Friday night, a 61-year-old man from High Ridge, Missouri died from injuries sustained in a boating accident. Troopers say his boat struck a fixed object while traveling upstream at Lake of the Ozarks.
A swimmer from Rolla drowned after attempting to cross the Gasconade River in Wright County in southern Missouri. Troopers say he went under the water and failed to resurface at 3:25 Saturday afternoon.
