On September 11, the American Legion Post 55 in Hannibal will conduct the Eleventh Patriot Remembrance Day Memorial Service at 11am. The service will be at the American Legion Post Home, 3819 Highway MM in Hannibal. VFW Post 11241 and Palmyra Post 174 will participate; the public is invited.

Guest speakers will include state and local representatives, first responders, and the military. The ceremony will include posting of colors, a firing squad, and the playing of taps.


In New London, firefighters will mark 9/11 by honoring veterans returning home on the Honor Flight. The firefighters will be set up at Abels in New London starting at approximately 7pm. Hotdogs and hamburgers will sold to the public, and a large group of motorcycle riders awaiting the Honor Flight Bus.

By attending and purchasing food, patrons will help raise money for the Honor Guard, to assist with the purchase of new flags.

At 9:15  the group will move to the New London Lions Club parking lot, where the fire trucks and firefighters will set up to honor the bus as it travels down Hwy 61. Those that attend are asked to bring their flags and show their patriotism.
