The Hannibal Hoots split a double header in Springfield Friday, taking the first game 9-3 and coming up short 5-3 in the nightcap.

In the first game, Springfield led 2-0 after two innings. The Hoots offense came to life in the fourth, scoring a run on an error and a single. Hannibal took the lead with four in the fifth, with RBI singles by left fielder Joe Roscetti and first baseman Jordan Humphries, and a two-run double by DH Chris Iazzetta.

The Hoots padded their lead with a run in the sixth, then added three more in the seventh on a two-run single by second baseman Josh Lane and an RBI base hit by center fielder Tommy Kraus.

In game two, Hannibal scored first with three in the fourth on a two-run single by Humphries and an RBI base hit by Iazzetta.

The Sliders came back with two in the fourth and three in the sixth to salvage a split in the twin bill.

Hannibal's record now stands at 20-27, while Springfield is 25-22.

The Hoots have the day off Saturday and entertain the Quincy Gems at Clemens Field at 3:05 p.m. Sunday.
