The Hannibal Hoots closed out their 2018 season on a high note Friday, knocking off the Springfield Sliders 7-3 at Clemens Field.

After Springfield scored a run in the second, Hannibal came back in the bottom of the inning with three runs on an error, an RBI single by left fielder Tommy Kraus, an infield hit and a two-run single by center fielder Patrick Donohue.

The Sliders scored single runs in the third and fourth to tie the game at 3-3.

That lasted until the sixth when the Hoots scored four times on a two-run single by DH Chris Iazzetta and RBI base hits by catcher Sam Nozicka and shortstop Duante DeCello.

Randall Coxwell went the first four innings and gave up all three Slider runs, but Frankie Garcia, Quentin Kujawa and Hunter Wienhoff shut out Springfield the rest of the way.

Hannibal's season ends with a 25-35 record.
