The Terre Haute Rex clinched the Prospect League West Division championship Tuesday as they held off the Hannibal Hoots 3-2.

Hannibal took the lead in the first when center fielder Patrick Donohue singled, stole second, went to third on a fly out and scored on a single by DH Dylan Dodd.

The Hoots took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Dodd led off the inning with a home run.

Terre Haute started its comeback in the bottom of the fourth, plating a run on a double and an error.

The Rex took the lead with two runs in the sixth. Right fielder Jalbert Melo drove in the tying run with a single, and first baseman Chris Whelan drove home what proved to be the winning run with a sacrifice fly.

The loss drops the Hoots to 24-34, while the Rex improve to 34-22 and clinch the West Division title.

Hannibal has the day off Wednesday. They're back in action at Quincy at 6:35 p.m. Thursday and will close out the season at Clemens Field against Springfield Friday.
