The Adams County Sheriff’s Department has received numerous reports of citizens receiving phone calls from scammers in recent days.

The scammer says they are in some type of legal trouble and need prepaid money cards sent to them.

In a similar scam, the person being called is told they have missed court, have an arrest warrant or a relative has been arrested and needs money to get out of jail.

Authorities say that you should never give out any personal, bank or credit card information over the phone, and if you get a call from someone trying to scam you, just hang up.
