Adams County Sheriff’s deputies warn of a phone scam.
An individual calls saying they are with a collection agency and that a bad check was written to a business in the past. The caller warns that money must be paid right away or there will be legal consequences. Deputies say the calls come after business hours and have vague information. The caller will not leave their name or indicate who their employer is. Sheriff Brian Vonderhaar warns not to send money if you believe someone is being suspicious in their statements or if you believe it is a scam.
