Where does Illinois Rank on the “Best State to Have a Baby” List?

The 50 states and Washington DC were ranked best to worst when it comes to states to have a baby in, so where does Illinois land on the list?

Wallethub.com is at it again, this time they have created a ranking, best to worst, of states to have a baby in. In the article on their website, they say that they used many different factors to figure out these rankings including things like, cost, healthcare, as well as categories called baby and family friendliness (whatever that means). In the article they do talk about how expensive it is to have a baby, saying...

"One of the biggest expenses to keep in mind is medical bills. The average conventional delivery in the U.S. costs around $4,500 with insurance, and without insurance it could cost over $10,000."

So where does Illinois fall on the list of states to have a baby in? Well surprisingly high on the list, Illinois comes in at the 20th spot on the list right behind Montana, and just ahead of Virginia. Illinois scores well in Health Care as the 7th best state BUT Illinois' downfall...You guessed it cost, Illinois ranks 34th in the cost of having a baby in the state, Illinois also ranked low in baby friendliness (again not sure how they determine if a state is baby-friendly).

What about the other states that make up our Tri-State area? Well Missouri comes in at 37th, it is very low on the Healthcare ranking taking 48th place there, and Iowa is just outside of the top 100 coming in at 12th place! Do you think Illinois is a better state to have a baby in than Missouri?
