When infielder Dean Anna was looking for a job following last season, the Cardinals organization and history became a factor in his decision.

"I want to be on a winning ballclub no matter what. They win every year, they're always in the playoffs, and it seems like every year they're in the World Series or close to it."

Anna says his preferred position is shortstop, but he'll play wherever needed.

Anna hit .331 with nine home runs with Tucson in 2013 before being traded to the Yankees. Anna was claimed off waivers by the Pirates and then granted free agency in November.

San Diego drafted Anna in the 26th round of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft. He made his major league debut with the New York Yankees. Anna appeared in a dozen games. He had one homer in 22 at bats. He also appeared as a pitcher in one game allowing two runs on three hits in one inning pitched.
