This is the time of year that a lot of folks are rushing to their favorite tax preparer to get their 2013 income taxes done.

The United Way of the Mark Twain Area has partnered with the University of Missouri Extension, Douglass Community Services and the Internal Revenue Service to offer free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Qualified taxpayers can get their simple returns done by a VITA volunteer at a number of locations in northeast Missouri.
