Video of a Missouri Teachers struggle to stick to a tight budget
A Missouri teacher recently appeared on a national talk show to seek help navigating a tight budget and debt, the video shows just how hard it can be for some teachers out there.
The video was posted to the Rachel Ray YouTube channel on February 2nd, 2022 and in the description of the video, it says...
"Self-proclaimed over spender Jamie who has over $11,000 in credit card debt tracked her spending for a week so we could help her adjust her habits."
Jamie, the teacher claims to have credit card debt of over $11,000 and is from Lake of St. Louis, Missouri. In the week of her filming herself, she spent over $220, and then Rachel and she sat to talk about her week of spending.
There are a couple of things I took from this video, number 1 would be overspending on eating out, we are all guilty of doing what Jamie did which is buy yourself dinner even though you already have food at home you bought for yourself. The second thing that really stood out to me in this video is that if you are serious about cutting down on your $11,000 in credit card debt you gotta stop buying outfits for your dog...
Overall I would say the one thing that everyone living on a tight budget (myself a radio host included) can learn from this is that tracking your spending can help put perspective on the things you need vs the things you want, and how to then prioritize the things you need over those things you want. Also pretty cool of this Missouri teacher to just let everyone into her life for a week on national tv, I would NOT be doing that!
