(NEW LONDON)--  A Vandalia man accused of attempted murder and other charges will be back in court for a counsel status hearing on October Tenth. 51-year-old Arnold Pargeon also is accused of domestic assault and felonious restraint.

He was arrested Sunday after what authorities say was a domestic disturbance in Perry.

A Ralls County deputy reported hearing a woman yelling for help from inside a home. The woman told authorities she had been assaulted by the suspect. She was treated at Hannibal Regional Hospital and released.

Records show Pargeon has a long criminal history that includes guilty pleas to assault, property damage, driving while intoxicated and a drug charge. He still faces a felony traffic charge in Pike County and misdemeanor charges in Marion, Ralls and Audrain counties.
