Unemployment rose is just about every Northeast Missouri county for December. Taking the biggest hits were Clark, Macon, Monroe, Ralls and Shelby counties. Slight increases were reported in Pike, Knox, Lewis, , Marion and Scotland counties.

The City of Hannibal saw its unemployment rate rise slightly from four-point-seven percent to four-point-nine percent.

The news was better statewide, where the jobless rate fell by two-tenths of a percent for December.
