Train Strikes, Kills Driver in Lincoln County

A 49-year-old man has been killed after he drove into the path of a freight train in eastern Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the victim as Daniel L. Ludwig, of Elsberry. The crash happened Tuesday afternoon as he was traveling on a private drive where there was a stop sign and railroad crossing sign.

The patrol says the train's horn blared before crash. Ludwig was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
